This stunning master cup is handcrafted from genuine Yixing raw ore Dark Green Clay (Mo Lü Ni). This rare zisha clay presents a calm, elegant muted green hue after firing, and is highly sought after by purple clay collectors around the world.
The cup is adorned with intricate hand engraving of Yang Yuhuan (Yang Guifei), one of China’s legendary Four Great Beauties. Beside her portrait, pine trees, mountains and rocks form a serene classical landscape, together with an immortal poem written by Li Bai — the most celebrated poet of the Tang Dynasty.
This poem is Song of Pure Brightness (Qing Ping Diao), written especially for Yang Yuhuan for the emperor’s garden feast
云想衣裳花想容,
春风拂槛露华浓。
若非群玉山头见,
会向瑶台月下逢。
Poem English Translation:
Her robe is like cloud, her face like bloom,
Spring breeze sweeps rail, dewy petals perfume.
If not on Jade Mountain’s peak we meet her,
We’d meet her beneath moon on Yao Terrace, celestial home.
The story behind this verse is romantic and timeless. During the prosperous Tang Dynasty, Emperor Xuanzong and Yang Yuhuan admired blooming peonies in the imperial garden. The emperor summoned Li Bai to compose new verses on the spot. Without hesitation, Li Bai penned this masterpiece. He did not simply describe her looks; he compared her grace to floating clouds and fresh blossoms, suggesting her beauty could only belong to a celestial goddess who dwells on fairy mountains and moonlit heavenly terraces. For more than 1,300 years, this poem has remained the most famous tribute to feminine elegance in Chinese literature.
Genuine zisha clay has a natural double-pore breathable structure. When you brew tea inside it, the clay gently interacts with the tea liquor, softening harsh flavours and preserving rich, layered tea aroma. With repeated use and careful tending, the cup will slowly develop a warm, glossy, one-of-a-kind patina. The more you drink tea from it, the more beautiful it becomes — a living mark unique to your tea journey.
The straight cylindrical shape sits comfortably in your palm, designed as a dedicated master cup for solo kung fu tea tasting. It pairs wonderfully with pu-erh, aged oolong, old white tea and all aged teas.
Every line of the portrait, landscape and ancient poetry is hand-carved by experienced artisans. Slight natural variations in engraving are proof of authentic handmade craft, distinguishing it from mass-produced machine wares.
This is far more than a teacup. It carries Tang poetry, imperial romance and thousands of years of Chinese aesthetic tradition. It is perfect for daily tea rituals, elegant tea table display, art collection, or an extraordinary cultural gift for tea lovers, poetry enthusiasts and admirers of ancient Chinese history.
